Sponsor the Hispanic Heritage Celebration: Fiesta in the Park

Port Washington’s second annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration: Fiesta in the Park is scheduled for October 1, 2023 (rain date October 9, 2023).

Fiesta in the Park brought together over 300 attendees last year, including about 150 children. The event was a historic and dynamic partnership between the Parent Resource Center (PRC), Port Washington's centrally located educational and activity hub for children 0-8 and support center for parents; the Port Washington Public Library and Landmark on Main Street, Port Washington’s own performance house, which features top-notch acts year-round. This year, we are honored to add the Town of North Hempstead as a proud sponsor.

National Hispanic Heritage Month has been a celebration honored in the U.S. since 1968. This celebration aims to recognize Port Washington families, community members and businesses who have influenced our town—supporting those whose ancestors, histories, cultures, and contributions derived from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.

This year's focus will be unity - “Unidos Logramos Mas” (United we Accomplish More) - forging bonds to reach new possibilities. It will feature all the amazing programming from last year: a live orchestra playing salsa, cumbia and merengue hit cover songs; dance recitals and performances and flavorful Latin American cuisine. We pride ourselves in our effort to support our local community. We prioritize our Port schools, community organizations, residents and local businesses as vendors, performers and collaborators. This year, we are forging new and exciting relations with the school community to play a role in our programming.

We are building on last year’s successes. We would be grateful for your support as we continue to grow our programming to reflect on the importance of diversity, inclusion and celebrating Latin American identity among Port Washington residents, especially our youth. All contributions that exceed our expenses will be donated to the PRC’s Stepping Stones program. This program provides low-cost or no-cost educational programming to families that would otherwise not be able to expose their children to a preschool-like setting, including top-notch teachers, enrichment programs and special visits from renowned science, music and art centers.
